What is a Healthy Diet - An Introduction
Nutrition and good health are natural companions. As we age, signs of poor nutrition increase. Unfortunately, it might be difficult to reverse. Therefore, it is important to start eating healthy when you are young.
The problem we face today is that much of our food, even fruits and vegetables, contain very little nutrition compared to years ago. Additionally, intense processing and sterilization of foods renders many of their healthy nutrients and minerals biologically inactive.

Omega-6 fatty acids are found in plant oils such as seeds, nuts, dark green leafy vegetables and whole grains. Omega-3 is good for many illnesses, including allergies and asthma, and benefits your heart as well.
Vitamins
A depletion of vitamins in the body can lead to a variety of disorders and general health problems. Vitamins compose 1% of our body and function as helpers that are essential for growth, vitality and health. To conserve this energy you require certain vitamins and minerals, which can be obtained either from foods or supplements.
Vitamins found in fruits and vegetables guard against aging, cancer, heart disease, and other diseases. Again, drinking juiced fruits and vegetables every day provides an excellent source of vitamins and minerals.
Minerals
Minerals not only build your bones, but give you energy. To boost absorption of iron, iron-rich plant foods should be consumed with vitamin C supplements or foods rich in vitamin C.

Balance dictates that you should include a wide variety of foods to get optimum benefit from the vitamins and minerals. A diet which includes nine or more daily servings of fruits and vegetables affects our health and longevity by offering the trace nutrients and minerals our bodies need for growth, repair and the maintenance of a sound immune system.
